The Pheasant Inn is reviewed for a Manchester Evening News Cheshire 'foodie' adventure!

Read on to discover MEN journalist, Claire Mooney's take of the Pheasant Inn during her 'foodie' adventure across Cheshire

"There are stunning views – and a telescope to help – at the gorgeous Pheasant Inn at Burwardsley, which dates back to 1650. Sandstone walls, real fires, beamed ceilings and wooden floors make this hidden gem characterful but luxurious – I’ve never seen a bigger bathroom than one of those attached to the 12 bedrooms here.

I couldn’t think of a lovelier place for Sunday lunch but the menu is more ambitious than that, with an emphasis on local and seasonal produce – fab mains included whole plaice with Jersey Royals and nutty butter, seared organic pork fillet and confit belly with baby leeks and wild mushrooms and calves’ liver with bacon and mash. There’s a good and keenly-priced selection of wines by the glass too as well as real ales.

The awe-inspiring views over to Wales and Liverpool – including the Anglican cathedral – and more of those gloriously green fields make this a wonderful place to stop off."
