Chef swaps kitchen whites for boxing gloves
A CHEF is swapping the kitchen for the boxing ring in a bid to raise funds for a cancer charity.
Rob Collett, Senior Chef de Partie at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa, Chester, will temporarily change his oven gloves for boxing gloves to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The 26-year-old is to step foot in the boxing ring in memory of his grandfather Montague.
It will be the first time the dad-of-three has boxed but he is already hitting the gym in time for his September 11 bout at Chester Racecourse.
Rob, from Wrexham, said: “I like to think I’m a bit of a knock-out in the kitchen but I am sincerely hoping I won’t be the one knocked out in the boxing ring.
“I’ve not boxed before so have been putting the work in at the gym – it’s an event that can only go one of two ways but I shall give it my best shot and hope to raise some money for a very good cause in the process.”
Rob is being backed by his colleagues at the Grosvenor Pulford, who have been supporting him through his JustGiving fundraising page.
Lucy Nelson, Sales and Marketing Director for Nelson Hotels which owns the Grosvenor Pulford, said: “One thing we know about Rob is that he will give this event a good shot. He packs a punch in the kitchen so we’re tipping him for a win and happy to help him reach his fundraising goal.”
